I had a dry patchy rash around my nose and chin--diagnosed by my dermatologist as periodontal dermatitis.  The doctor gave me a topical steriod to suppress the symptoms however it only made the rash worse in the end.  After doing a lot of research, I came across oregano oil, which was often used as an astringent.  After nearly a week and a half of using the oil, the rash was gone and has not been back since.  It was amazing to see that a rash that had bothered me for almost three months had disappeared almost overnight.  If you decide to use the oil, make sure it is not around the eye area.  It can sting a little at first--remember it has been used for years as an astringent so it's poperties act as a cleansing agent.  Use it sparingly, alittle goes a long way!  If your skeptical, just give it a try... it's a natural substance, which is way better than the steriod cream the doctor will give you.  You can find it at Sprouts, or any natural food store for about $19.
