AHHH! I don't really have anything helpful to offer but I am having problems similar to those many of you are describing!! I am 22 years old, female, had some problems with eczema when I was younger which eventually went away, and also a sudden flare-up of a bunch of weird rashes about 3 years ago which also went away when I used some prescription cream for a little while and also switched to Head & Shoulders shampoo (go figure). I have also had pollen allergies my whole life, which similarly cleared up when I was maybe 12 or 14 but have come back to some extent within the last couple years. Basically I have a history of allergies and also wacky/sensitive skin and as a result I only use fragrance free moisturizers and detergents, no fabric softener, etc.   I haven't changed any of the products I've been using but about a week ago I started getting this insanely itchy rash. I had been out in the forest/mountains in California for two weeks, then home in Pennsylvania for a couple days, then flew to Minnesota, and a few days after that is when it started. It started in a small patch on my right shin, which is where I had had a bunch of mosquito bites from CA, so at first I thought it was that, but it spread all over my right lower leg, then appeared in my inner right forearm, and now it is on my left lower leg and left forearm as well and starting to spread above my knees. In most places it starts out looking like one or several bug bites, so I also considered bedbugs (esp. since it started a couple days after sleeping in a different bed, at my parents' house), but I searched the sheets, mattress, everything for signs of bedbugs (little black dots and stuff) but nope. I also have no idea how they would have gotten bedbugs because neither of them have stayed overnight anywhere else in quite awhile, nor have they had overnight guests.   Either way, I have now been back in Pennsylvania sleeping in my own bed and using all the same products as usual and it's still here!!! (which makes me think NOT bedbugs, or my mom's detergent, or anything like that). After scratching the few "bites" turn into a super gross looking red rash. Like everyone else has been saying, it itches SOOO bad. I scratch until I bleed. I woke up three times last night itching. It sucks, it looks disgusting and the itching is just torture!!!! I don't use Splenda, I know it appears in small amounts in some of my foods (like my English muffins... weird) but in general I try to avoid it. I don't use any other artificial sweeteners, either. I have been slathering on over-the-counter strength cortisone cream which helps in a minimal way; aloe seems to soothe the itching a little better. I just took a Benadryl so we'll see if that helps but I guess I should just make an appointment with the doc!
