I am a 22 year old female diagnosed with Lupus and Secondary Sjogrens. I have been on 20mg of Prednisone and 400mg of Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) for about 4 months now. About a week and a half ago I broke out in a rash all over my body. It is extremely itchy, pink, and splotchy. (NON-contagious) When I saw my doctor about it, she seemed as baffled as I was. She told me it looks like a drug rash. So maybe I am having an allergic reaction to one of the medications? My doctor does not want to think it could be an allergic reaction. I guess we won't know until I get my blood work back. In the meantime, my doctor is keeping me on the Plaquenil, prescribed me another medication called Hydroxyzine to relieve the itching, and doubled my dosage of Prednisone up to 40mg for a week... then 30mg for a week.. and then back down to 20mg. None of this makes ANY sense to me. I have searched the internet for some hope but all I see are forums of people who have the same questions and no answers. I am NOT doubling my dosage of steroids to 40mg. Theoretically, I should be at 15mg by now. I hate taking this many pills a day. I hate this disease. I hate unanswered questions. My doctor is trying to help me but she is at a lack of words herself. I feel like they just keep writing me off with more prescriptions. Do you have any suggestions? Any idea what could be causing this rash? Should I get tested for food allergies? Change my diet? I have never been allergic to anything before. I could use some guidance. -Jenny
