my daughter had side effects of depression confusion and suicidal thoughts but sh never went to the doctor. She stopped taking the pills a week ago and she said the effects are gradually going away, but how long do they last and should she still consult her doctor about the incident?

I am sorry she experienced such side effects and I am glad to hear that they are going away. Do you and she both feel that the medication was the only cause? Or is it possible that she felt depressed regardless if she took the pill? Was this a sudden change?
I would say yes...she probably should consult with the doctor just to let the doctor know and to see if another medication would work better without this side effect. If she continues to feel depressed it may be wise to seek the help of a mental health professional.
