Q: My hair will not hold color. How can I neutralize the bleach/chemicals so it will hold color again?

My hair is nautrally a darker brown and I have always died it lighter. Well, over the last 6 months or so, I've tried to darken it, with hair dye. But my hair will not hold the dark color for more than 2-3 days at the most. After a few days of the dark, it turns into this brassy, orange color. I called a professional, they said it was due to the peroxide/ bleach from the lightners.
My question is this: how can I neutralize the chemicals in my hair so that the peroxide/ bleach chemicals are not active, then allowing my hair a chance to take in the darker color.
