Q: I was biten by a mosquito while in San Antonio, Texas last October on my cheek and ever since i have

a pink/brown blemish there permanently. Every few weeks it goes itchy and goes red then it dies down again and goes all dry, but i always have this mark now. The same thing happens every few weeks. Can anyone please help?

I saw a dermatologist last week who wants to take a biopsy tomorrow, but he doesn't think it is from the mosquito bite, he thinks it was a coincidence???

I don't know but I have exactly the same symptoms. A mosquito bite in the South of France in August which flares up and is unbearably itchy then dies away again only to reappear in exactly the same place a few weeks later. Others on that holiday contracted it too. It is now a small, fibrous lump.

Is this some cyclical parasitic infection? If so why does it stay in the same place and not proliferate around the body? I imagined it might have come with insects trapped in a fruit consignment from tropical regions like Africa. If anyone has the answer we'd be very glad to hear it. Many thanks,

Laura
