A new skin cholesterol test has been found effective in clinical trials. In a recent study, the skin test--which measures the amount of cholesterol that has accumulated in skin tissues--accurately identified patients who did not have symptoms of cardiovascular problems but who were at risk for conditions such as heart attack, stroke, and atherosclerosis.
