Acne drug Accutane raises cholesterol, study finds

A recent study has found that 4 in 10 people who use the anti-acne medicine Accutane developed elevated cholesterol levels, and 40 percent of the drug's users showed raised levels of triglycerides. Doctors have long known about the risk of elevated cholesterol in people using Accutane, but they were not aware of how prevalent the side effect may be. Accutane is currently the most effective anti-acne treatment on the market, resolving about 89 percent of cases of severe acne. Read more »
