Could chemicals in cosmetics be harmful to teens?

A small study has found that the chemicals used in cosmetics aimed at teens and young women may pose health risks. The study, released by the Environmental Working Group, found traces of these cosmetic toxins in the blood and urine of all 20 girls who participated in the investigation. The chemicals found have been linked to thyroid disorders, cancer, and several have been linked to hormone changes in girls in previous studies. Researchers say that the young women in the study used an average of 17 personal care products per day, while most adult women use approximately 12.  Read full story >
