A new study on mice has shed light on the link between eczema and asthma, researchers say. Skin damaged by eczema appears to produce thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP)--a substance that seems to put the immune system on alert, which sets off asthma symptoms. Researchers say that treating eczema before it is severe and blocking TSLP production may help ward off asthma attacks. Experts say that they need to confirm these results in humans, but they suggest that the finding may lead to new drugs for eczema, allergies, and asthma.
