Thanks so much Doctor; it's good to hear from you.  After reading your post, I came away with some great tips that I will certainly try.  Though not suffering from insomnia, I do wake often ( i have little kids and a dog, and am looking for a more consistent shut down and start to my day.

I've stumbled upon a site offering online CBT for sleeping disorders (www.cbt-tree.com). Not to sure about if it works or not, but it seems to be based on the same principles that you are writing about.

I have bipolar 1 disorder & acute anxiety.  Sedating meds didn't help my chronic insomnia (did have a sleep study & no reason such as sleep apnea was found), but EMDR therapy did help so much! After 4th session my sleeping improved so much I could get off sedating meds.
