I've been married for nearly 8 years. I'm 29, with 5 children. My spouse is an "early in the a.m." kind of guy when it comes to sex. Which makes it hard, as I'm a pm. woman. I however.. sleep so heavy..during sex (or in general) I rarely remember having sex, or remember being aw...

I should add, I'm very hard to wake, and once up and about I'm very groggy and it takes me until almost noon time to "fully wake up",and process things. I can barley walk the first few hours, or walk well I should say. I must say I'm also frequently very tired during the day.

I know , I know its a long list lol. I'm just trying to pin-point it, as its greatly affected me being able to wake up timely even back in school days.

I know my mother has a lot of the same stuff, and 2 of my children, when do "odd " things and are "heavy sleepers" once fell asleep in the snow.

Any leads or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

"sleep drunkenness-  term applied to the condition of people who have difficulty awakening in the morning and who often awaken in a confused or disoriented state....no longer thought to be a specific diagnostic entity...is a feature of many disorders of excessive somnolence, such as obstructive sleep apnea..."

from The Encyclopedia of Sleep and Sleep Disorders, 2nd ed, Thorpy and Yager.

I have also seen the term sleep inertia used.
