I just happened to google provigil and found this site. I was just denied by my insurer after being on this WONDERFUL medication for about 4 years due to chronic lyme and didnt know what to do or where to go. My doc told me to try my GP, what? That said to me she didnt want to fight with me. Whatever. Feel much better after having found this helpful group of folks!

I suffer from OSA and was prescribed provigil 4 years ago when I lived in Washington DC. It is the most incredibly helpful drug and I use it with caution. My c-pap is just not adequate.
I have just moved to North Carolina and you would think that I asked for Heroin when I asked my new doc (GP) for some. He said that he has never prescribed it before and won't to me. I am on a waiting list of three months for a new sleep clinic. In the meantime, life is hell; but not as bad before the c-pap. Any advice would be so much appreciated.
However, I do want to provide some caution. Apparently the medical community are now stating that provigil is addictive which they didn't think before. Secondly, When I suddenly came off provigil due to our move to NC, I experienced a terrible bout of depression which I am sure is linked. Also, my c-pap machine, although currently not adequate, performed even more poorly for the first two weeks due to stimulants in my body. Hope that helps and good luck
