My 3 yr. old son was born 5 weeks early and has never slept thru the night. In the beginning I believed it to be because he was born so early and may take longer to get him into a routine. I also have a 2 yr. old and a 7 yr. old with no sleep issues. I feel I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. He was in a toddler bed sortly after he turned 1 because he would climb out of his crib 4-5 times a night and i didn't want him to get hurt. Now he comes into my room 4-5 times a night usually starting 2 hours after he goes to bed. he is in a routine with naps (about 1 1/2 hours) everyday with no problems. he won't fall asleep until about 10 pm and is up throughout the night coming into my room waking me up to ask me what I am doing. I put him back to bed and he comntinues this about 4 more times and is up for the morning between 6-7 am. I am completely exhausted and need some helpful advise.

I am sorry a professional has not answered your post. I am just browsing to find answers for my own sleep problems and noticed your posting. I wonder if your son might have ADD - my son sounds similar - I had to put his crib matress on the floor so that he wouldn't hurt himself. Years later he was checked at childrens hospital who did EEG while he was sleeping, saying that his brain stayed awake while he slept!! This can be dangerous, you don't know what he may do in the middle of the night and you are asleep. I hope you have a good gp that can refer you.
God bless you
Thanks, the strange thing is for two normal checkup visits my pediatrician told me if it continues he was going to start him on melatonin, then at his 3 yrs visit he told me that it was completely normal?? does he not remember what he had told me in the past. he turned 3 October 25th and has not slept thru the night since the day he was born! that can't be normal. and his personality is I beleive affected by it. he is very crabby and irritable all the time. i was hoping to get some help/advice from this site, but nothing yet. still browsing other web sites too.
Thanks for your post.
