To the young, the teeth don't seem important. They're hard, indestructible and permanent. As a case in point, think about how difficult it is to convince your child to brush and floss regularly! And he or she will do just about anything to avoid a trip to the dentist, whether it's for ...

I happened upon this article because I've been trying to figure out how to let people know that there's a way to stop bruxism and really relieve TMJ and headache pain. For the last 8 months I've been injecting precise doses of Botox into the chewing muscles and my patient's bruxism (some of which had been going on for over 10 years) disappeared completely overnight. I'm not trying to advertise for myself here - there's other doctors doing this and its a simple procedure. Just make sure the doctor doing the procedure is experienced in it and is not just experimenting on you.
The Botox is injected into the masseter muscle, the dose is about 20 units per muscle. It does not interfere with chewing, smiling or anything else, because it is a relatively small dose, but big enough to stop the cycle of bruxism. It doesn't hurt. It is not covered by insurance usually, but you never know - submitting a claim is always a good idea.
The price usually winds up being about $400 to $500 and the effect lasts for 3 to 4 months. You may not need to do it more than a few times to break your body of the habit of bruxism. I've treated about 100 patients so far, and the results are always fantastic.
I have more info on my website: http://www.westsidemedicalspa.com/tmd-treatme...
or there's a video of me doing the procedure on ABC news here: http://www.westsidemedicalspa.com/press.html
its the second one from the top.
I'll be glad to answer questions.
    cheers
