I had to get up this morning at 2 AM to let my cats out. They have a perfectly good litter box, but would much rather use the great outdoors as a bathroom.   I live in northern Canada. The temperature early this morning was close to twenty degrees below zero, too cold to leave my pets outsid...
  1. When Some People Are Ill, Pets Makes Life More Worth Living

I am in a wheelchair due to a birth defect.  I  have slept with a dog or a cat in my bed for most of my life.  Having an animal sleep with me makes me feel more at ease and not so alone and afraid. Animals, in my humble opinion enhance life, they do not make life worse.  People make life a lot worse, in my opinion, than animals ever would.  My favorite saying is, "The more I see of people, the more I love animals!!"

Thank you so much Mrs. Cardinal, for taking the time to reply.  I just know, at the moment,  I am on the computer with three dogs around me and one cat on my head and I feel like one of the most lucky people in the world.  Have a fantastic day.

i so agree with you.........i also prefer the company of my critters more than humans. i have many disabilities that some days make it hard to get up and face the day. i have 18 cats and 2 chihuahua's. most nights i have at least 7 critters sleeping with me. on the rare occasion when i travel and am not able to bring my dog i have a hard time sleeping totally alone. can't wait to get home and have some critter comfort. also if it were not for my babies i would not have a reason to get out of bed....for that i am so grateful. they have improved the quality of my life so much. Smile

Hi my friend, I am so sorry it too so long to respond and to thank you for your response.  It has been a long week and one of my cats has been ill.  All is fine now and I hope you had a great weekend, with all your "fur kids." Sincerely,  Dawn

The first thing about letting your pets sleep with you is that if they go out to do their duty then get a pet door.  This has saved me hours of sleep.  Second, remember that dogs and cats nap all day and night.  Therefore, don't be afraid of disturbing their sleep at night.  Toss and turn all you need.  They really don't care.
