I am 18 years old and in the past was a "cutter". I have stopped and am now on Lexapro but I am having violent recurring nightmares, sometimes about me cutting myself and my parents watching without concern, sometimes my best friend or boyfriend dying. I really would like to know what I can...
  1. Maybe the Lexapro?

    Hello, Tonya,

Good job on stopping the cutting! It's not easy but you did it. Big Smile

I'd call the doctor who prescribed the Lexapro for you and discuss your nightmares. Insomnia is listed as a potential side effect of Lexapro, and meds that can cause insomnia can also cause other sleep issues -- possibly your nightmares.

Getting a good night's sleep is so vital to your health and wellbeing. Please do call your doctor and let us know what happens?

    Good luck,

    Teri Robert
