Dr. Blaivas,

Thank you for your SharePost on Chronic Insomnia. As you mentioned, the list of possible causes you provided is just of the "common" ones - yikes! It seems we're all destined for Chronic Insomnia galore! Yet, not the case. With your continued help and very informative posts, we can be more "rest assured" (literally and figuratively) to get more "rest, assured." Your fine advice is much appreciated. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

has suffered from idiopathic insomnia for over 10 years. Never a good sleeper as a child and having worked nights for 15 years he can no longer sleep at all except in 2 hour stents.  He has been seen by so many different Drs.  He can no longer work.  He walks around in a daze half the time and has made it his life goal to conqure the art of a good nigths sleep so he can have a life before he dies... We are looking into The adrenal gland because he has too much of a substance that led the last dr to think the problem might be there.  Unfortunately he is no longer working nor does he have insurance. Any suggestions for a way to continue to fight this nightmare (or should I say lack of nightmares or even good dreams)
