I don't have health insurance to pay for it, and I can't afford to pay out of pocket. My family thinks I'm making it up so they won't help. I'll look over the sights you gave me and see what is in them. They may have the answer I need.

Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 03:02 PMFrom as far back as I could remember I would go to bed and then I would wake up and be so scared and I could actually see whatever I was scared of after me.I had several of these a year.My mother would never tell the doctor.I kept having them, when I was in my teens I had them while I was awake, one day I went to get my clothes out of my closet and I went into one I couldn`t get away from the closet. It was like my closet was moving further and further away and my hands were glued to the closet. My mom hollared at me and realized what I was doing and got me.Is this anything similar to what you might be going through?I am 44 yrs. old and haven`t had one in 12years or longer, but I never knew what it was.My son that is 24 has been having them since he was small.I would like to know if anyone knows what this is?He had one today and it is so heart breaking to see him go through this.If you know I would love to know the name or who I could talk to ,so he can be helped and find out if this was inherited.

Thanks so much for your post. It sounds like you are really frustrated and want to find out fast what is happening.
Though I am not a trained medical professional (I'm one of the site moderators), I suggest that you speak with your doctor - general or internal medicine for a start. They can help you get to the right specialist who can really focus on the specifics of your symptoms.
In the meantime, we have lots of information for you to read that could maybe help you while working with your doctor. You can read through the Understanding Sleep Disorders and maybe specifically the Understanding Insomnia section. There is also important content on how to treat your disorderand even what to do if you are indeed diagnosed with insomnia.
