The Harvard Heart Letter, November issue, offers the sombering news that if you or a loved one is snoring through the night with "snorts, whistles and gasps" then the snorechestra is a possible if not probable sign of sleep apnea, which could lead to both heart disease and a shorter life span.  ...

Thanks Amy - this issue is so important.  So many people just chalk it up to a sinus problem.  Well my dad anyway.  Every time I read a post about apnea I get so angry with him.  I hope he does something about his apnea before it is too late.

    All the best, sue

This summer, I finally went to my doctor after waking up with terrible headaches each morning, and feeling worse after "sleeping" all night than when I went to bed.  After a sleep study, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and was fitted for a C-Pap machine.  WHAT A BLESSING!!  I now feel better than I had in a long time, I didn't realize how poorly I was sleeping a night and the effect it was having on my body.  I had been foggy thinking and very short-tempered, especially with my family.

After just a couple nights on the C-Pap, I felt wonderful.  Even my sons commented on how much friendlier I was.

If you think you might have sleep apnea, or don't know why you feel so lousy in the morning, please ask your doctor to send you to a sleep study, you owe it to yourself and to your health.
