I guess i'd ask if: You are falling alseep easily or taking a long time to fall asleep so you are "making up for it with deep sleep" in the am Are you waking up during the night?again - are making up for it in the am? Are you a snorer?  If so - you may have obstructive sleep apnea - you can read about it more on the sleep site Once you are up are you wide awake and if so - do you have sleepy periods during the day?  if so, you might again be having quality of sleep issues. Are you going through any hormonal swings like peri-menopause or menopause - which can also affect sleep patterns. What you're describing is not uncommon - if you are oncerned or some of these questions raise some issues - you should see a doctor.
