Q: once diagnosed with a mslt test with narcoplepsy do you always have it or can it leave your system

I have a doctor that is trying to make me take the test again saying it can leave your system.  I always thought one always had it.

Narcolepsy usually is a permanent condition, it doesn't go away.  However, narcolepsy can be tricky to diagnose, and the MSLT doesn't always give clear-cut results.  There are conditions similar to narcolepsy, such as idiopathic hypersomnia, that sometimes improve.  Perhaps your doctor wants to repeat the MSLT because the diagnosis is unclear?
