Q: Can life-long dizziness and weird eye movements be symptoms of a sleep disorder?

Ever since I can remember I've had this problem and no matter what doctor I've been to, no one can say why I have this problem. About once every six weeks when I was younger I would wake up early and the room would be spinning so bad that I would hold my head down on my pillow hard with my hand, then any sound I heard would be repeated in my head (just sounds, not voices), sometimes I would throw up. This would last all day long.

When I was around 20, I started going through phases of extreme fatigue. Sometimes I'll sit down on the couch and just fall asleep. I also fell asleep in a cab one time. But I don't usually fall right asleep when I go to bed, it takes about 15 minutes to fall asleep unless I'm really tired.

Now that I'm older, (25) I still do get dizzy but not to that extent. Sometimes I'll even get dizzy in the middle of the day and I'll have to hold on to something because I feel like I'm going to fall over. I've noticed that it's better when I watch my sodium intake and drink a lot of water. However, there are still days when, right when I wake up, my eyes move from side to side, making me dizzy, and I can't control it. It stops after a minute or so. I recently asked my optometrist about the eye thing and he said that sometimes if your eyes move a lot during REM they can get tired and move like that when you wake up and can make you experience vertigo. So I'm just curious if this has anything to do with my life-long experiences and if it is some kind of sleep disorder. If it is a sleep disorder, what kind is it?

Thank you,

AJ

P.S. I have been tested for low iron, brain tumors, diabetes, vitamin b dificientcy, etc, etc. According to all of these tests, I'm a "healthy young woman". I totally agree with that statement, except for the weird dizziness and eye movements don't seem normal to me.
