Q: What should I take to help stay asleep?

I have been having difficulty with sleep disorders for about 3-4 years now. I generally do not have a problem falling asleep, but I have a very difficult time staying asleep. On a night where I am not drinking, as I do go out with my friends on weekends, I tend to get a maximum of 2 consistent hours of sleep, sometimes I can fall back asleep quickly, but then end up waking up again several moments later. Also, at times I have a lot of difficulty staying asleep, and I always wake up groggy.

I am currently in school and I also work a desk job, I try to stay active, I am very much into sports. 5'9" .. 160 lbs. Athletic build .. no health conditions

Find out what works best, warm milk, or hot bath or shower. Hot bath or shower 2 hours before going to bed usually helps. Our body temperature will drop so you can fall

asleep.

But unfortunately as we get older due to how much caffeine and stress in your life

really determines if you stay asleep all night.

Talk to your doctor about sleep medicines available but they all say not to drink

alcohol.

And alcohol can also stop you from sleeping deep, or staying asleep.

You could have a sleep study done.  Your primary care physician would refer you to a sleep clinic. Most insurance will cover this. I couldn't sleep, but after a sleep study, I got the right medication and now I sleep great.
