Q: I have OSA, been on CPAP 3 months, still fatigued. CPAP machine data reveals that I'm doing well with the machine. I still am very fatigued. I have changed masks several times, and still nothing...

I find myself fighting the machine at times to breathe normally, and wake up with a stomach full of air.....suggestions...Although I have OSA my doctor doesn't think sleep apnea is the reason I am not sleeping and are still fatigued Any other disorders I should be ruling out?

wow thats exacalty what i have been going though. Ive had 5 sleep tests, one said sleep apeana ,another said narcalipcy ,then next two said sleep apeana and the last one said i didnt have slep apeana. so i have to have another narcalipcy test this month i was on c-pap for 2  yrs and it didnt help, still falling asleeo during the day and also full of air,  tried many different masks and pressure levels. i stopped using the machine 3 months ago when the new dr said i didnt have sleep apeansa.

I also have restless leg  I grind my teeth  and the dr says that may have alot to do with it because i have all this while im sleeping and dont know it,  also I have to be on meds to keep me awake if you have narcalipcy I hope  your on something   to help stay awake durning the day, I have been dealing with this for 6 yrs and no one can even tell me what I have it is  crazy

I feel really fatigued. I get up at 8, go to the gym where I can only do half the workout I used to do, and by 1:00 I'm wiped out.  My eyes feel heavy, and I'm just not "sharp" in my decision making...it's unbelievably frustrating

I hate to say it but u sound just like me in so many ways if i didnt take adderoll id sleep all the time even when I was on c pap, your dr has to know there is more going on ..  did he check u for narcalicpy?  how long do u think it takes u to fall asleep when u lay down, do you go right out and dream as you feel yourself falling asleep

Never checked yet for anything other than sleep apnea.  Last week Dr read the data from the cpap machine, it reveals I was 'doing well " on it.  Did another sleep study last week, now Dr wants to put me in BIPAP....

The last few night I have been unable to sleep, I'm guessing that cpap is not working at all...have to wait for the new machine....SO FRUSTRATED & TIRED

the bi pap is better you dont have to fight against the machine what pressure are u on ??? the mask itself is a pain but i can tell you the new machine  will be better then the other it breathes with you

It seems like you are a mouth breather and taking the air down to your stomach rather than to your lungs.......  Try to make sure to avoid this by using NASAL masks and / or  a chin support .

I believe that you should R/O low thyroid hormones (can cause severe Fatigue, depression ,restless legs , sensetivity to cold, and numerous other symptoms).

Check it out in (www.thyroid.about.com),and search for a doctor willing to check all the 3 hormones (TSH,Free T3,Free T4).

This condition (Hypothyroidism),is very common especially in females in child bearing age , runs in families.

I have used a nasal mask and wound up opening my mouth, now I went to a full facial mask to kinda keep my jaw in place, not sure if it's working.

I have an appt with the dr tomorrow, he believes that sleep apnea may not be my problem, and I think he is ging to start blood work on me to rule out other possibilities......but thanks for the info
