If I cannot use sleeping pills to sleep, how do I sleep. The CPAP macxhine does not let me sleep.

I hope that a sleep doctor can answer this question. I cannot use the CPAP machine because I have chronic anxiety and it bothers me. I have stopped using it for the last two years. Can you die from not using this? I went to a sleep psychiatrist for an evaluation and he said I have PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGICAL INSOMNIA. I need something for sleep and he said NO SLEEPING pill will work and he was right. I am lucky to get 3 hours of sleep per night. I just had a car accident and as I was driving I fell asleep and demolished my car. My doctor has given me PROVIGIL 200mg and it does NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There has to be some kind og a combination for sleep. The CPAP machine DID NOT MAKE ME SLEEP, in fact it kept me awake all night. I do have CHRONIC SLEEP DISORDER and I cannot understand why there isn't something for this. I was reading an article by DR MICHAEL RACK and he suggessted sleeping in a supine position and using a steroid nasal spray. He also suggessted on his website to use a SLEEP AONEA T-SHIRT. Is this approved by the FDA? If any one knows DR MICHAEL RACK'S EMAIL ADDRESS OR WHERE HE WORKS, I WOULD APPRECIATE. On the computer it says in is in JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI. If someone can help me find his address or email and if some doctor could answer these question, I would appreciate it. God bless you in your eforts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have chronic obstructive apnea then the danger is that those "periods when you stop breathing" that are of medical concern.

Have you tried the newer Bi-PAP machine which has a much smaller mask?  People seem to like it and find it far more comfortable.

Other "products" may offer limited relief but for true apnea - weight loss - using the C-PAP or Bi-PAP are the "gold standards" of care.

After surgery on my nasal passages it was recommened that I sleep in a recliner as I would not be able to use my C-pap machine.

I too have been bothered with my C-pap mask being too large and covering most of my face, I have been lately using a mask that has pillows and does not cover my eyes, .much better resultss
