Q: Obstructive/Central sleep apnea can be cause by exposure to antifouling paint dust and fumes.

Hello, while in the Navy I was assigned to a floating dry dock.  We dock the nuclear powered submairines called "boomers".  In almost every dock from Aug. 78 until Jan. 80 that included and sandblasting job and a repainting of the hull with an antifouling paint used at that  time.  The paint contained lead, copper, zinc and tributyltin.  Of course, the sandblasting process also brought in the exposure to siliica too.  We were never told of any hazards so we lived, bathed, and ate below the submarinie where all the debrie was falling in a cloud when sandblasting and then in the form of strong fumes.  The ship was also built in 1944 and as my job required I was also exposed to al lot of asbestos.  I have a claim with the Veteran Affairs for compensation for many autoimmune diseases such as COPD, Emphysema, Sarcoidosis, Hypothyroidism, Rheumatoid Arthritis, etrc.  But also for Obstructive/Central sleep apnea and Narcolepsy.  I have seem 3 ENT's and all have said no obstruction to cause the sleep apnea but having just Central sleep apnea is very rare.  Can a person get just Central sleep apnea from these kinds of exposures?
