Dear DeeSearcy, That sounds like an extremely frustrating way to live!  Plus, the fact that you have fallen asleep driving is very scary.  You really do need an accurate diagnosis and proper treatment.  I think your best bet for getting an accurate diagnosis as quickly as possible would be to go to a Sleep Specialist or Sleep Clinic.  Let me point to some resources to help you find one in your area: American Boad of Sleep Medicine: (ABSM) a list of Board certified sleep specialists by state American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM): a list of Sleep Centers by State   Both Apnea and  Narcolepsy have symptoms similar to what you are describing, but please do not try to diagnose or treat yourself!  Not only would it be wonderful for you to have a better quality of life, you don't want to have a car accident where you or others are seriously/fatally wounded!   Regards, Dr. Jennifer Fee The Stress Masters
