Trazodone is a type of antidepressant that can be used to treat insomnia or anxiety. Although it can be used for sleep, there are probably better medications available to help you get to sleep. Ambien, Ambien CR, Lunesta, and Rozerem are all marketed specifically to help you get to sleep. Ambien is available in a generic formulation, making it more affordable. I hope this helps. Casey
