Q: How long is too long to be on prescription sleeping meds such as Lunesta?

I have had insomnia for about the last 5-6 years.  I have been on a couple of different kinds of sleeping pills including Ambien xr, which made me sleep walk.  Now I am on Lunesta which helps get me to sleep, although I don't sleep all night.  I also have sleep apnea which is being treated with a mouth appliance(can't sleep with the C-PAP machine).  My question is how long is too long to be on prescription sleeping meds?

I don't believe there is a length of time.  I have been on prescription medicine for my insomnia for at least 9 years and have been on the same medication.  They have adjusted the dosage, but not the medicine.  I also have sleep apnea, but I use a CPAP which has helped me a lot.  I hope this help you, but maybe you should ask a doctor.
