Not sleeping 7-8 hours a night plays havoc with all your hormones. The weight gain can be explained because your body is producing too much of the hormone that signals hunger and not enough of the one that tells you you are full. Sound like the eradic sleep patterns have caused sleep deprivation. You need to re-set your sleep clock so that it can trigger sleep at night and wake you in the morning. Try a sleep aid device called The Sleep Genie in the evening and establish a routine where you go to sleep and wake up the same time every day. This device will help you settle down and relax so that your body can induce sleep naturally.
