If the sleep test reveals abnormal REM levels, is the diagnosis always narcolepsy?
Our daughter was diagnosed with narcolepsy 10 years ago at the Sleep Clinic as she had REM each time she fell asleep. She has a terrible time getting to sleep, and always goes to sleep already dreaming, and wakes up with vivid dreams but she does not seem to have excessive daytime sleepiness or cateplexy. Are there other conditions that have REM when falling asleep and waking up (and during the night) as a symptom or does this test indicate she has a less severe case of the condition?
Thanks.
Nancy
