Q: Would improper sleep patterns result in "seizures" or a feeling of paralysis while sleeping?

These episodes occur very infrequently but seem to occur after several days of staying up until 3 a.m. Sometimes sleeping for 7 hours and at other times sleeping for 5.  In these episodes, the person sort of feels an out of body experience.  They have this feeling of paralysis from the neck down but in most cases it's the entire body which is effected.  They can't call out for help because it has some how effected their vocal cords.  They feel panicky at first and then someone calm themselves down and are able to 'wake' themselves up.   The latest incident occurred and they said that when they tried to wake up, it felt like their eyes were wanting to roll to the back of their head and the were drooling.  They did somehow manage to wake up.  This episode sounds more like a seizure.  What could this be and what could be triggering this?

I've had these episodes for years, except for the siezure feeling. The bad sleep pattern DOES aggravate it, but it's likely innate in yer system...I did find that, during the paralysis part, my eyes actually opened, and, despite sensing movement in the dream state, my open eyes (seeing the room around me) projected a non-moving state (which is disconcerting, to say the least).  I HAVE been in such a fearful state during these episodes that I was practically foaming at the mouth to wake from it- could explain the seizure sensations.Try this- use a blindfold or washcloth over your eyes, and try not to sleep on your back- I have my worst dreams after I roll over on my back in my sleep.
