Narcolepsy treatment is a tough road to navigate but I would go back to my doctor and discuss the possibility of (a) timing the medication in specific doses during the day to see if you can impact the desire to sleep on a scheduled "taking drug" basis.  You also need to see if he has other treatments that he can offer or whether a referal to a physician who deals with sleep/narcolepsy issues specifically is in order.
