I am a nurse practicioner and I knew it was safe to give to children but was uncertain of the dose as well. I asked our pediatrician and he recommended 3 mg 1 hr before bedtime and it works like a charm! My daughter has terrible sleep problems and I don't agree with the Benedryl route. This is a safe alternative to using an actual "drug". Depending on your child's level of activity and sleeplessness try starting with 1 mg and if that doesn't do the trick them bump it up a little at a time. I also suggest getting the tablet form as aposed to the capsules because you can easily cut them with a pill cutter to adjust the dose! Good Luck! READ MORE
