You are thinking and obsessing and dwelling on all of the awfullness of the situation. think of sleep as a time to "stop thinking and relax." Sleep aids may help you but they won;'t change your situation - do you have family to turn to - can you afford or are you eligible for counseling/therapy?? You do need support at this time and a safe place to reveal emotions so nighttime is allowed to be a calm haven of restful sleep.
Try to really turn off life about an hour before bedtime - take a warm bath - light scented candles - try some gentle meditation - play soft music and try to self heal. If all else fails you can get a short acting sleep aid from a physician - but you don't want to become dependent on it.
