Q: my son when he was tired he kept sleep for four days then back to normal, what docotor I should see.

Past year my son had twice these kind of experiences, when he got exhaust, he would  sleep for 3-4 days, by that time he could not go to school, he just kept sleep at least for 3 days,  we did the sleep test, but report was normal, so the doctor prescribe "addcrall 30mg", once we need  for waking him up, do you think his symptom just sleep disorder? I think I need to visit Neurologist, because sleep disorder doctor has not seen this case before, me either, no one need sleep for 3-4 days to back to normal! my is an all "A" student, he does very good at school, he plays piano, volleyball everyday and he is 15 years old, can you tell me, what kind the disese he has? should I look for second opinion?  Vivian

Thanks so much for your question.  It sounds like you have been seeing a doctor - maybe just his pediatrician as he is only 15.  You might ask for a referral to a specialist - someone who is focused on sleep issues in children.

As well, you may want his pediatrician to run general blood tests/workup to see if everything shows normal.  Sometimes sleep issues have nothing to do with sleep but is related to another issue entirely - diet, lifestyle choices, stress, illness, etc.

In searching our site I found a few articles/posts concerning children and sleep.  Maybe reviewing these could prove helpful to you and your son.
