My Teenage daughter falls asleep during the day or while reading.

My 18 year old daughter is an excellent student but has trouble with sleeping. She falls asleep on a moments notice. She falls asleep in class, while on the computer and mostly while reading. She can fall asleep watching TV or even talking on the phone. She gets about 7-8 hours of sleep a night but wakes up tired and has trouble waking up. When she falls asleep even noise can not awake her. She says it is hurting her studies since she can't stay awake to read the pages of homework without a nap and is planning on Pre-Vet school next year and wants help before then. She thinks she is narcaleptic but embarassed to see a doctor. Any help would be good. Thanks

Thank you for your help with this. She does fall asleep very quickly at night and sleeps all night but she doesn't remember dreaming at all. She said she doesn't feel tired but then falls asleep. I am going to get her to a doctor and check things out. She used to snore when she was younger due to enlarged adnoids but grew out of it. Maybe they are still bothering her. I believe we will get help with this. Thanks for the information and encouragement.
