Human Granulocytic Anaplasmosis (HGA)
In addition to Lyme disease, I. scapularis deer ticks can carry other types of infections that cause disease in humans. Human granulocytic anaplasmosis (HGA) is another illness spread by the deer tick. (HGA was formerly called human granulocytic ehrlichiosis.
