Dreaming is believing for many Americans

In a recent study, scientists found that Americans are as likely to believe their dreams provide insight into their lives as people of other cultures. And people are particularly susceptible to a dream's message if it "backs up" their conscious desires and fears. People who dream of a plane crash the night before a flight are as likely to make other travel plans as people who fly after real plane crashes, for example. Researchers say that while people don't necessarily believe dreams predict the future, they are still likely to take their dreams' messages seriously.
