CPAP Machine May Stave Off Apnea-Related Heart Woes

Long-term use of a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine may reverse the heart risks found in patients with severe sleep apnea, new research suggests. A three-month study found that patients who used a CPAP machine nightly reduced common apnea-induced damage to their heart by about 30 percent. Researchers say this suggests that the risk for congestive heart failure fall with regular use of the CPAP machine.
