Insomniacs Have Different Brains

People who have chronic insomnia have different brain patterns than well-rested people, but they perform just as well and even better in some mental tests. Insomnia appears to induce a state of constant, mild stress, which can help them overcome the mental drain caused by a lack of sleep. Researchers don't know if this low-level stress has negative consequences over time.
