Drink mocktails

The best way to protect your liver is to avoid alcohol, ideally completely. Alcohol increases the risk for developing cirrhosis and liver cancer. Drink water, splurge on fresh organic juices, and indulge in “Mocktails” at parties!

Eat lots of veggies

Green, red, and orange vegetables like spinach, beets, and carrots promote detoxification and a healthy weight. Obesity increases the risk for fatty liver, which makes Hep C worse. A healthy diet and exercise are great ways to help your liver.

Herbs and spices

Some herbs and spices have been found to reduce inflammation of the liver in people with Hep C. Milk thistle, licorice root, and turmeric have been studied in clinical trials and have been found to be safe for the liver. Speak with your doctor before taking any herb, supplement or vitamin to ensure it is safe for you.

Drink coffee

We love our morning cup of coffee to start the day, and now there is evidence that coffee slows the progression of fibrosis in people with Hep C.  Drinking organic coffee helps the liver.

Stress can cause tension, restrictions in blood flow, and stress hormones to flood your body. Meditation, yoga, tai-chi or any activity that reduces your stress and increases your feelings of well-being can help your liver.
