6 Infographics Every mHealth Fan Should See
Are you excited about mHealth, but don’t really have concrete facts to back up your enthusiasm? I was in your shoes once, but don’t fret… There has been a ton of research conducted on the mobile industry and mobile users in particular, and the best part is that the high points all seem to have been put into easily consumable infographics. My favorite.
I happened to put a few of them together in this post to paint a picture of the mobile phone industry in general, and mobile phone use in particular, because those facts are the basis to any mHealth discussion. So enjoy the eye-candy, and the next time somebody asks you why you’re all excited about mHealth, you’ll be able to let them know.
THE MOBILE INDUSTRY
If you want to try to get your head around the mobile industry and all of its components, in relation to one another, the following infographic is a great place to start:

This interactive infographic illustrates the number of subscribers of each telecommunication company, in different regions of the world. By default, it gives you a sense of how big the mobile industry is worldwide:

Knowing how the industry works and who the big players are is great, but as an American, it’s also nice to know about the service I can expect to receive from my mobile carrier based on where I live… Especially if I am to start to rely on my phone for mHealth:

MOBILE USERS
Having a general understanding of the industry is a prerequisite for every mHealth enthusiast, but it’s also quite important to understand how people are using mobile technology, so that we can all design mHealth systems that people will actually use to provide us with their data. Pew Internet recently conducted an excellent study on cell phone use among adults. that has been turned into a clean and straightforward infographic:
