Is iPhone’s iOS 4.0 Killing Your Workout?
Like many others, my iPhone 3g has become very slow since upgrading the operating system to 4.0. In all honesty, I really didn’t want to upgrade because I had read all the rumblings around the Internet about it. I was forced to upgrade when I inadvertently upgraded my Tweetdeck for iPhone app and it subsequently stopped working for me, altogether. Six hours of iPhone syncing later and I was rocking the 3g, 4.0 sluggishness. I have been hating my Smartphone ever since…
But the icing on the cake came when I noticed some problems when connecting to accessories that I use when I work out at home. In particular, I usually connect my iPhone 3g to a JBL OS-200ID because I love listening to Pandora, or Internet Radio, or even my iTunes library while I’m on our elliptical machine. But it seems that my JBL, as well as all of my other accessories in the house for that matter, isn’t too thrilled with the update either.
Music, Mobile and Health
I’m writing about this here because I think that music, mobile and health are connected together for a lot of people, me included. Making all of our music portable and accessible has been one of my favorite advances of the past decade. I have personally found that music is a great motivator for movement, and movement leads to healthier, happier people. If you can’t listen to your favorite tracks while working out, I’d reason that you may be less inclined to work out. Speaking from personal experience these past few weeks, that is a little of what I’m going through right now.
The good news is that iOS 4.1 is out and the early reviews are positive. I haven’t had the chance to upgrade yet, but will probably try to find some down time this weekend to get myself back on the Smartphone fast track. Hopefully my accessories will like this upgrade better as well.
