GroupMe Is A Good SXSW Find
When we were speculating about “the next big thing” that might launch at SXSW, Chris Hall mentioned Beluga. This group messaging company was recently acquired by Facebook. That caught my interest, but not enough to download the app. The next day, I read Steve Cheney’s blog post about joining GroupMe. I arrived at his blog via his analysis of Facebook’s new comment plug-in and found him to be a thoughtful writer. That credibility pushed me to try GroupMe.
I created a SXSW group of all my HealthCentral colleagues who came to Austin for the event. All I had to do was add a phone number or e-mail address for each person. It was quick and easy and has been super helpful. We have used the service to meet for dinner, suggest panels, and just generally touch base. Next time you’re at a big event with a group, try it out. It’s free, you can have up to 25 people on it, and you can use your own number or have one created especially for the event. You can keep the group indefinitely or set an expiration date on it.

I especially like your last paragraph – and I did start a blog – two in fact – just a few months ago! I always write letters to my children at Christmas – sometimes more often, but at least once a year. They know their letters will be in their stockings! Probably wouldn’t do anything you said not to – just a little bit inhibited! But that’s just me. Congratulations on being freshly pressed!
I’m not sure exactly why but this blog is loading very slow for me. Is anyone else having this issue or is it a issue on my end? I’ll check back later and see if the problem still exists.
This really is this type of superb source that you are offering and also you provide it away for free of charge. I love seeing web sites which comprehend the importance of furnishing a high quality resource for absolutely free.
Pretty great post. I simply stumbled upon your blog and wished to say that I’ve really enjoyed surfing around your blog posts. In any case I’ll be subscribing to your rss feed and I hope you write again very soon!
