Thanks so much for posting Jim. I grew up with smoking parents and I do think it had something to do with my smoking years later - maybe genetically, maybe environmental or both. I think it felt like it was something I could bond with my mom and brother - and other people too. How high school, I know! But human nature (mine anyway) demanded acceptance and approval and somehow I felt I got that by smoking.
Thank goodness I quit as I was trying to have a family (i think quitting is why i finally got pregnant!) and I have not gone back. It was very freeing not to feel dependent in that way and I learned to supplement my human need for approval in other ways. Somehow I am getitng it from my kids (for now anyway!)
As well, my husband and I did smoke when we first got our dog emmitt and it did used to bother me that he was sitting there breathing it all in. Luckily both my husband and I quit and he too is now a smoke free pet - 9 years old next week!
All the best, sue
