Is there a online SA (smokers anonymous)?
HAVE SMOKED OVER 30 YEARS AND JUST STARTED TAKING CHANTIX...WOULD LOVE TO STAND UP AND SAY..MY NAMES KEKE AND I'M A NICTINE ADDICTED..JUST WONDERINGHi KeKe: The first thing I would say is CONGRATULATIONS! You have taken a major step in regaining your life. I would also like to say that 12 step programs work in part because of the social interaction and support. Actually standing up in front of a group makes people a little more accountable for their promises to abstain.
I started doing some research regarding your question and found some sites that might be of some help. The first is the American Cancer Society link that I have put here for you. They have some great resources, including American Cancer Society's Quitline which is a telephone support system.
There is also Nicotine Anonymous, a non-profit 12-step program that may have meetings in your area.
All that being said, there actually are a few online programs; Smokers Anonymous that has chat rooms and online support, and Cyber Recovery Fellowship.
I cannot vouch for any of these except the ACS, having had no professional experience with any of the others.
The best of luck!
