Eating like a maniac after being quit 2 weeks
I feel like I'm really over-compensating in my nicotine fix with food. It's getting really bad. I'm trying to eat healthy snacks, but seriously--when is this going to end?! I'd rather smoke than be overweight

First of all, congratulations on getting past the most difficult time period after quitting tobacco. This is a very common complaint among people who have recentlly stopped. Nicotine withdrawal alone is responsible for some of the appetite increase and weight gain, but the major factor is that you've spent years putting a cigarette in your mouth, drawing in the smoke, and then exhaling. This most likely has become second nature, and part of your existence. Without something to take its place, the natural thing to do is substitue this oral activity with another ... eating. This is why most people experience weight gain.
The first two weeks are the toughest when quitting, and you're there! Keep at it and try some substites to satisfy the oral need. Exmamples are: chewing gum; drinking water (water bottle); celery stalks (almost no calories); carrot sticks; and/or, any food item ultra low in calories that requires chewing or crunching. The weight should begin to settle down soon.
