Determined to quit smoking
Hello , I am determined to lose weight and stop smoking and this will help with other health issues that I will deal with later .For now this is enough. I have the patches and running out of cigs hope to start then....
moonstruck,
Congratulations on your determination to kick the habit. Sounds like you've given it some thought and preparation. The patches will help with the withdrawal, but you'll probably still experience some symptoms as the patches are cut back. Remember that this is an addiction and you must go through withdrawal. You may experience nervousness, anger, irritability, hunger and weight gain. The worst will be over within two weeks. For some the weight gain is a real problem; partly from nicotine withdrawal, but mostly by satisfying a long lasting oral fixation with cigarettes, and substituting food. I noted from your question that weight loss is another goal. Keep in mind that this will be complicated by stopping the tobacco. Try to substitue ultra low calorie snacks/activities that require chewing, crunching, or sipping. Examples are chewing gum, celerly stalks, keeping a water bottle nearby, or other crunch veggies.
The most important step is making the decision to quit, the rest will be easy as long as you remain determined.
Thanks.
